The court fight started in December with a battle about a court of various sorts — and a 12-year-old young lady's entrance to it. Sydney Phillips, from Kenilworth, N.J., had arrangements to spend her winter playing on the seventh-grade young ladies ball group at St.
Theresa's Catholic school. She had contended the prior year, announced NJ.com, and was even named an elite player. Yet, in the fall, when insufficient of her female schoolmates indicated intrigue, St. Theresa's scratched off their season. So Sydney asked whether rather she could play with the young men. School authorities said no.
