After the release of some Chibok girls, a lot of comments came up by concerned Nigerians. Most of the comments portrayed the release of the girls as fake. Trending comments include -Chibok girls now going to church, Few days ago they were looking skinny and tattered and all of a sudden they don't even look like people who were kidnapped.
One of the girls who spoke also gave what Nigerians see to be as unreasonable statement saying "A bomb was dropped by an airplane near me but I escaped unhurt, and we stayed for a month and 10 days (40 Days) without food". This was the one that increased the doubt of their release by Nigerians.
Following these comments on social media, The minister of Information And Culture Lai Mohammed, urged Nigerians to stop the comments and rather thank God for the release of the girls.
“They are many reckless analysts and commentators who are not helping the situation. We still have many of our children in captivity. Therefore, we have to be careful with the kind of comments that we make. We must not make comments that will make the release of these girls difficult or impossible. When the president said that the Boko Haram saga will not be closed until all the girls abducted have been released and reunited with their families safely, those who doubted did not believe us, so we thank God this day has come" he said
